The Short Version

  • Fehm helps you study. It doesn't guarantee grades.
  • Your uploads are yours. What we generate for you is yours to use.
  • Don't upload illegal stuff or abuse the service.
  • We can change or discontinue features. We'll try to give notice.
  • We're in beta — everything is free for now.

What Fehm Is

Fehm is a study tool that turns your course materials into flashcards, summaries, mind maps, quizzes, and other study aids.

Fehm is NOT:

  • A replacement for attending class or doing coursework
  • A guarantee of academic success
  • A source of original academic content
  • A cheating tool — don't submit generated content as your own work

Eligibility

To use Fehm, you must:

  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Provide accurate account information
  • Be a human (no bots or automated access without permission)

Your Account

  • You're responsible for keeping your login secure
  • Don't share accounts
  • You're responsible for all activity under your account
  • Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access

What You Can Upload

You can upload materials you have the right to use:

  • Your own notes
  • Course slides and materials provided for your study
  • Textbook excerpts within fair use
  • Anything you have permission to use

Do NOT upload:

  • Content you don't have rights to
  • Copyrighted material beyond fair use
  • Illegal content of any kind
  • Malware or harmful files
  • Content that violates others' privacy

We may remove content that violates these rules without notice.

Supported file types: PDF, Word documents (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx), text files, and images. Maximum file size: 25MB.

Ownership & Licenses

Your content:

  • You own what you upload
  • You own the study materials we generate for you
  • You grant us a license to process your content to provide the service

Our content:

  • We own Fehm (the platform, design, code, branding)
  • You can't copy, resell, or redistribute Fehm itself

Generated content:

  • Flashcards, summaries, etc. generated from YOUR materials are yours to use
  • You can export, print, share them however you like
  • If you share via Communities, others can use what you've shared

Acceptable Use

Don't use Fehm to:

  • Violate any laws
  • Infringe copyrights or intellectual property
  • Submit generated content as original academic work (plagiarism)
  • Harass, spam, or harm others
  • Attempt to hack, reverse-engineer, or break the service
  • Overload our systems or circumvent usage limits
  • Create competing products using our platform
  • Resell access to Fehm

AI-Generated Content

Fehm uses AI (powered by OpenAI) to generate study materials. AI isn't perfect.

You acknowledge that:

  • Generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies
  • AI may misinterpret or oversimplify source material
  • You should verify important information against original sources
  • Generated content is a study aid, not a definitive source

We're not responsible for errors in AI-generated content or any academic consequences from relying on it.

Service & Limits

Fehm is currently in beta. During beta:

  • All features are free to use
  • There are reasonable usage limits to ensure fair access for everyone
  • Limits may change as we scale

When we launch paid plans, we'll give you plenty of notice. Beta users may receive special perks.

Communities (Coming Soon)

Communities will let you share materials with other students.

When you share:

  • You grant other users the right to view and use shared materials
  • You confirm you have the right to share the content
  • You can remove your shared content anytime

Community rules:

  • Don't share copyrighted materials you don't have rights to
  • Don't share harmful, offensive, or illegal content
  • Respect other users

We can remove content or users who violate these rules.

Availability & Changes

  • Fehm is provided "as is"
  • We don't guarantee 100% uptime
  • We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features
  • We'll try to give notice for significant changes
  • We're not liable for downtime or lost data — back up important materials

Termination

You can:

  • Delete your account anytime
  • Export your data before deletion

We can:

  • Suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms
  • Terminate accounts with notice for any reason

On termination, your right to use Fehm ends. We may delete your data per our Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Fehm is provided "AS IS" without warranties
  • We don't guarantee accuracy of AI-generated content
  • We don't guarantee academic results
  • We're not responsible for how you use generated materials
  • We're not liable for any academic misconduct on your part

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the past 12 months (or £50 if free user)
  • This includes lost data, lost grades, academic consequences, etc.

Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims arising from:

  • Your use of Fehm
  • Content you upload
  • Your violation of these terms
  • Your violation of others' rights

Governing Law

  • These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales
  • Disputes will be resolved in courts of England and Wales

Changes to Terms

  • We may update these terms
  • Significant changes will be notified via email or in-app
  • Continued use after changes = acceptance
  • If you disagree, stop using Fehm and delete your account
